KAREN GERMOND

For as long as I can remember, I have been a passionate observer of interiors. Even as a child, I wanted to understand how the elements of a room were collected and curated—noting not only how they made spaces look, but how they made them feel.

After graduating with a business degree, I worked for 14 years in sales and account management before leaving the workforce to stay home with my youngest child. When that season came to an end, I knew it was time to pursue a formal career in design. Once I was finished with design school, I spent several years in the industry honing my skills and developing my style. In 2009, I was ready to create something of my own, and KMG Design Studio was born.

When I'm not designing, you can find me practicing yoga, trying out a new coffee shop, and finding inspiration from French lifestyle.

MEET THE TEAM

KATHERINE BRICKELL

Senior Interior Designer

Katherine grew up in Colorado, studied Advertising at CU Boulder, then studied Interior Design at the Florence Institute of Design International in Florence, Italy.

She loves that interior design is the intersection of beautiful aesthetics, efficient functionality and human psychology. She is passionate about working with clients to create spaces that are unique and inspiring to the client and create a strong sense of home.

COURTNEY OAKLEY
Design Assistant

A born and raised Carolina girl currently calling Charleston home, Courtney joins the team with a certificate and license in Residential Real Estate from College of Charleston. With a deep love for interiors born from a childhood of reimagining spaces around her home, Courtney brings passion and creative energy to each KMG Design Studio project.

When she's not assisting Karen with all things KMG, you can find Courtney cozied up with a latte at her favorite coffee shop and spending time with her dog, Cooper, and cat, Nala.

DAVE PURDY

Procurement Manager

Dave was born and raised in New Jersey, but recently made the move to Charleston in January 2021. With a degree in Environmental Science, his Senior Capstone Project focused on Sustainable Home Design. He has previous experience in construction, having worked for a General Contractor.

In Dave's free time, he enjoys crossfit, exploring the outdoors, hiking, cooking, and promoting sustainability. He has a passion for solving complex problems and have a deep love for food, always eager to try new restaurants.
